Online video based startups are very hot with VC’s these days. Every day, one or the other is generating huge “first rounds” as big as $40 million. Here is a try to analyse the concept of online video sharing. Expert comments will be updated time to time, as they pour in. Following slideshow is what i could summarize things about. Further course will take shape via discussions.
Updates: Youtube has launched m.youtube.com for mobile. Joost is talking with folks to embed in set top boxes.
Just browsing through internet, i cam across slideshare. Thakkar introduces me to it. I liked the concept. I decided to introduce it to blogging. After some thoughts, i decided to do ppt blogging for some time.
So here is the experiment. Since i am not a good writer, i will put together a slideshow in blog entry. May be less words with a slideshow might actually work for me
lets see
One sunny morning, webaroo launched sms gupshup. Being an employee forced me to be one of the early adopters. I started a sms blog called jatspeak, which went dull after some time. I was searching for some way in which i can do justice to gupshup. Hence, from my daily dosage of feeds, i started sending an sms a day about a new startup. This was appreciated, and i started seeing an increase in number of subscribers to my sms blog. All was good, but i always felt that 100 character limit is not enough to even inform people about three primary things. First, the concept of new startup, second, the brief introduction about it, and third, my comments on it (Perhaps i was not a good writer so could not compress everything in such a small space). With each passing day, the thought of having a full fledged blog about the startups grew strong, and today i am starting it.
Many blogs exist which have the same flavour, and some even better. This attempt is to analyse the startups, their idea, business model, execution, funding, success, failure. Being a technologist, i will try to put some thoughts about the technology behind them, and will also try to introduce other aspects from other experts in order to rate a startup, whether it is a strong contender, or it is yet another social networking site.
All comments are welcome. I will try my best to make this blog a good reading material about startups, which different voices pitched in, at appropriate times.
